Re: S2E9 - The Measure of A Man

Riker having to be the prosecution was a bit forced, but the emotions of the moment where he turned Data off, was visceral. Real talk, though, that scene bumped me hard. It's like...wow, I didn't know in the future a prosecutor could just straight-up assault the witness to get his point across. I g...

Re: S2E9 - The Measure of A Man

As I said elsewhere, this is one of my favorite episodes of the whole series. I am a sucker for pretty much any AI rights story. I feel like it's actually come up a few times now over the course of Watch Club that something is out of character for Picard, and I got that feeling again in this episode...

Re: Week 2: Episode List

I honestly forgot how much good stuff is in Season 2. "The Measure of a Man" is definitely one of my favorites of the entire series. Top five easy. Maybe top three?!

Re: S2E8 - A Matter of Honor

I agree with everything that's been said so far. I not only enjoy this dive into Klingon culture (particularly Klingon shipboard life), but I also enjoy the look at Riker's character. It's not the first time in the series (but I think it's the first time in the Watch Club) where we really get a soli...

Re: S2E3 - Elementary, Dear Data

Now this episode is what I'm talkin' about! I feel like this is the first time I'm really feeling "Yes...I am going to like this show." The central conflict is really more of a question about the nature of life, artificial or otherwise. The problems that arose were all of the crew's own making (no e...

Re: S2E1 - The Child

OH! Forgot about Guinan! I gotta say, again trying to look with fresh eyes, I was not impressed with her introduction in this episode, which I felt leaned on some uncomfortable tropes. This is turning out to be a common theme with these earlier episode rewatches, but I once again feel like I would b...

Re: S2E1 - The Child

I legit almost skipped this one because I remembered it as so problematic. (I legit did skip "Skin of Evil" just because I remember it being so bad and didn't want to sit through it, but...based on some of y'all's discussion, maybe I'll go back to that one.) I did end up watching "The Child," though...
