Re: S5E5 - Disaster

Worf is a highlight for me in this episode, for sure. There is kind of a worn out trope about men being useless-slash-clueless regarding childbirth, and though it's presented in this episode also through a lens of possible cross-species confusion, it's still enough of a thing to give me pause, not e...

Re: S5E6 - The Game

I admit I skipped this one for Watch Club, as I remember it being particularly eye-rolly for me. That said...perhaps I will find myself revisiting it later, and maybe it won't be as bad as I remember (as has happened actually a fair amount for Watch Club), but for the time being...eh. What did bring...

Re: S5E2 - Darmok

I have watched this episode so many dang times. And it's the one I can show to people who aren't even into Star Trek , or maybe even necessarily sci-fi! It just nicely illustrates so much about language and communication and gives so much to think about. Plus a device for framing cultural phenomena ...

Hard agree. I almost skipped this one for Watch Club, as I tend to skip it for rewatches, but I was glad I went back, because I had forgotten that line.

Re: Week 7: Episode List

Aw, man...I am sad at every watch party I miss, of course, but I'm almost as sad to miss "Cause and Effect" as I was to miss "Deja Q." Maybe I'll have to see how late I can stay up... :D

Indeed so! I remember years ago either watching like a documentary on Labyrinth or a DVD extra or something like that, and I saw a very familiar-looking redhead in a behind-the-scenes shot and went WHOA WHAT?!

I admit, I skipped this one for Watch Club, but Jared Rascher, your commentary makes me want to make some time for it. :)

Re: S1E5 - Where No One Has Gone Before

When this series first came out, I was in high school, and I never knew people didn't like Wesley until well after the fact. This is totally tangential, but when the series first came out, I actually did know people didn't like Wesley at the time. And the reason I knew that was because the people w...
