FanFic in your RPG... No, seriously. So many times players want to play Mass Effect, Borderlands, Overwatch, etc. There are more franchise RPGs out there then you can shake a stick at. Alien Legion is military action and political intrigue in a sci-fi version of the French Foreign Legion. I read the first 70 or so pages of Underground. Wow, that's some harsh messed up shit.
