Re: S2E20 - The Emissary

After seeing Wof’s holodeck calisthenics program, I declare him to absolutely be a D&D nerd.

ETA: did... did they bone in the holodeck?

Re: S2E20 - The Emissary

Re: Worf’s idealized view of Klingon society, I’ve often said that Worf’s favorite logical fallacy is the “No True Klingon” fallacy.

Re: S2E16 - Q Who

As far as Q episodes go, this was pretty light on Q. He was more the inciting incident than the antagonist. The decor in the Borg ship is reminiscent of H.R. Giger and we’re given some fairly horrifying scenes inside the ship with the baby being modified. Plus we get more great Guinan moments and I ...

Re: S2E9 - The Measure of A Man

The writing and acting in this episode are first rate. The look on Riker’s face when he formulates his plan - the change from exultation to horror - is pure gold. The only super awkward bit is when Riker is forced into being the prosecution. Like... really? That’s the regulation? They couldn’t have ...

Re: S2E8 - A Matter of Honor

I had forgotten about this episode, aside from some generalities. Riker is outstanding here and we have a real glimpse of Worf as a cunning tactician rather than a brute enforcer. He outwits the Klingons before he even knows there’s going to be a problem.

Re: S2E3 - Elementary, Dear Data

I love this episode. It’s so much of what makes Star Trek good to me. This is a holodeck episode but it’s not one where the danger seems to be the driving factor. It’s more of an exploration of sentience, consciousness, and humanity. I like that it’s Geordi’s own cleverness that causes the problem a...

Re: S1E23 - Skin of Evil

Watched this last night before we did the watch party. I was surprised that it wasn’t as bad on a concept level as I remembered. The script is a little wonky but mostly it’s the pacing that’s off. It’s a very slow episode that doesn’t use the slowness and stillness to good effect. We know, as fans, ...

Re: Week 2: Episode List

I just realized we're watching this on my birthday. I might hop on the Mumble for that.
