S4E8 - The Sword of Kahless

Post by dnaphil »

I selected this episode because it brings back Kor and is the introduction of Kor to Worf.

This is another Dax episode and after the heartbreak of Rejoined, we open with the Dharn Master, Kor telling tales in Quark's.

Dax introduces Worf to Kor, and Worf feels that Kor will reject him since he went against Gowron, only to find out Kor has no love for him either, and warmly embraces him. Once again rattling Worf's ideas of how Klingon society works.

We find out that Kor is on a holy grail quest, to find the Sword of Kahless, and he thinks he is close to finding it this time.

The rest of the story is a pretty simple plot. They find the sword, they are confronted by Torel the son of Duras (who Worf spared back in TNG...great call back), and then Kor, Worf, and Dax are on the run.

The rest of the episode show a rising tension in the two Klingons brought about by the sword. The tension reaches its peak when Kor and Worf fight and Dax is forced to stun them. There is never a reason why the sword does this and it is a bit of a plot device to let Worf and Kor have a conflict that wont have lasing consequences.

In the end, with Grail in hand, the three agree to cast it into the void and allow fate to deliver it back to the Klingons when the time is right.

I don't think this is a great episode but it a good Klingon episode and a fun little adventure.
