Re: S6E10 & S6E11 - Chain of Command
This episode, specifically Picard's experiences with a Cardassian interrogator, is nothing short of iconic. As Phil noted, tremendous performance by Patrick Stewart. There's really not a lot I can say about that -- haunting scenes of both torture and defiance. Jellico is another one of those charact...

Re: S5E26 & S6E1 -- Time's Arrow
I absolutely love this episode. I guess a counter-example to my "meh" feeling on "Rascals," because this one is also strong on the hijinks front. ;) I suppose this also falls into my love of time travel episodes (and particularly the causality explorations), so no big surprise. I...

Re: S6E7 - Rascals
David Birkin, who played de-aged Picard in this episode, also played Rene Picard in Family, so that's kind of cool. For those keeping track, this was the casting bit I was talking about in the discussion about "Family." I was so blown away by the genius of this casting choice when I learn...

Re: S6E8 - Fistful of Data's
I know it's not the primary thrust of this episode, but like Jared, I also enjoyed this look into Troi's character. I haven't spent a lot of time thinking about it, but I feel like there's probably something in holding up her attitude in this episode up against her experiences in "Qpid" wh...

Re: S5E18 - Cause and Effect
This is one of my most-enjoyed episodes; I go back to it often. I don't have a deep analysis on that or anything; I just enjoy time travel and causality stories. I like this episode so much, I'm even gonna leave that whole poker game alone.

Re: S5E23 - I, Borg
I like this episode quite a bit (as I guess I enjoy most Borg episodes), definitely for the roller coaster that Bob described, but also for the exploration of individuality and (especially) personhood (see also "Measure of a Man") and what are in my opinion some very strong scenes and char...

Oh, interesting! Klingons do appreciate a beard, huh.Jared Rascher wrote: ↑Fri Jul 10, 2020 6:07 pm . . . wait . . . how would this episode have played out if Riker didn't have the beard?

Re: Where's Chris?
This should have auto-posted in the news section already, but because this thread was already taking place, just a quick note that we've put up the latest update about the investigation. Please read the post itself for more info, but in brief, the investigation is complete, and Chris's suspension is...

Re: S5E5 - Disaster
Worf is a highlight for me in this episode, for sure. There is kind of a worn out trope about men being useless-slash-clueless regarding childbirth, and though it's presented in this episode also through a lens of possible cross-species confusion, it's still enough of a thing to give me pause, not e...
