Potentially Overboard Convention Plans (What Games Should I Run and When)

Post by Jared Rascher »

So, if I did something very unadvisable and ran six slots at a local convention in October, and wanted to fill all of those slots with PBTA games, what should those be?

I'm planning on putting Hydro Hackers in one of those slots.

I'm running Demigods and Rapscallion for a game day/convention in September, so I'll see how those feel after I play them.

I have never actually run Dungeon World, only played it, and am thinking about rectifying that. The majority of my local game group doesn't want to play supers, so this may be one of the only places I get to run Masks.

It's almost tradition for me to run Monster of the Week at least once at a convention.

I like to run PBTA games at conventions to get them more exposure, and because I'm doing less pregen work, and more, "let's have a list of ideas to form a basic outline, and then see where we go."

On top of all of that, I like to think about what the best thematic spots for different games might be. The slots are:

Friday, 2 to 6 pm
Friday, 7 to 11 pm
Saturday, 9am to 1pm
Saturday, 2 to 6 pm
Saturday, 7 to 11 pm
Sunday, 9 to 1 pm

If I run Masks, I would like to do it Saturday morning, because that's how my brain works. Monster of the Week probably needs to be one of the 7 to 11 slots, because that feels right.

So with all of that rambling out of the way, what kind of input does the MM community have for me here?

I think MASKS is a great entry-level PBTA game for players.

Shameless plug for Infinite Galaxies, which plays great at cons.
