I'm hype about the new Grant Howitt and Chris Taylor game, Heart: The City Beneath RPG
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/gs ... ty-beneath

The pitch is it is a 'story-forward' RPG that focuses on the elements of dungeon crawling that Grant and Chris find interesting while cutting out the rest. There is an Actual Play podcast and Quickstart rules available through the kickstarter.

Also, bonus points for offering a financial hardship tier as well as a regular backer tier. It's not an early bird cheaper rate, it's simply your call if financial hardship applies to you. This is from game designer's who do this stuff to eat but they are punk enough to say, "hey, we want you to get this game and if you really can't afford it then we are willing to take a cut to our pay to help you access the game". That's solid.

There are plenty of cool games from people with less name recognition than Grant Howitt. What are you hype about?

Hyper Light Drifter, the Role Playing Game
https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/me ... es/hld-rpg

HLD the video game kicked me in the teeth. It was brutal on the easiest modes for my terrible reflexes. But, I kept coming back because the colorful and mysterious world drew me in. Now you can play in that strange world at the table and perhaps not die as many times. :-)

If you're curious, they have early editions of the rules posted so you can get a taste for the system. It looks to be an interesting hybrid of d20 and Powered by the Apocalypse.
